|Deborah Camille Darnell|
Remoni-Notra was born on the planet Pandina where she was one of several beings that were chosen by the Zamarons to be their Queen. This honor they had previously awarded to Carol Ferris of planet Earth but she refused their offer leading to the Zamarons deciding to select another bearer of the Star Sapphire gem. Their search led them to Notra who was given one of the five crystals and told of the existence of the other four. After being empowered by the Star Sapphire, she travelled to Earth with the intention of finding and stealing the other gems; starting with the one owned by Carol Ferris. As such, she joined the Secret Society of Super Villains and became the new Star Sapphire with the intention of finding the other gem. After arriving on Earth, she blended in with Human society by taking the name Deborah Camille Darnell and became a stewardess at Ferris Aircraft with the aim of using the position to get closer to Carol Ferris and steal her Star Sapphire crystal.
Life as Star SapphireEdit
During her life as a supervillain, Debbie Darnell often dated the long time superhero Captain Comet and she also disguised herself as a French real estate agent called Camille as another one of her identities. She was later placed into a coma-like state at the hands of Zatanna of the Justice League of America who was believed to had done so at the request of Hal Jordan who wanted to protect Carol Ferris. Following her disappearance, her whereabouts were unknown until the members of the Secret Society sought to locate her. This led to Despero uncovering Notra at the infirmary of Belle Reve Prison. After being awakened, she joined her teammates in an assault against the Justice League after the Secret Society had their memories restored and they battled the superheroes during the Crisis of Conscience. However, they were once again defeated and Darnell once again had her memory erased.
Deborah remained inactive until the time of the Day of Vengeance when a group of several magic users assembled at Stonehenge and conducted a ritual to summon The Spectre. Before they could speak to the Spirit of Vengeance, The Spectre first committed his attention at Darnell and accused her of crimes against men who did not bow down to her. As a result, The Spectre condemned her and transformed Deborah Darnell into glass whereupon he shatted her body thus killing her as a result as well as ending her career as the supervillain Star Sapphire.
- The character was first introduced during the Earth-One era but survived through the Crisis on Infinite Earth's mostly intact with parts of her background being altered or removed in the New Earth Continuity. As such, certain elements of her backstory should be considered apocryphal.
