Notes

  • The original concept of Jor-El was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938. Writer Bill Finger expanded upon Jor-El's Kryptonian background when he provided a more extensive Superman origin story in Superman (Volume 1) #53.

Trivia

  • Actor Terence Stamp provided the voice for the disembodied spirit of Jor-El in the WB television series Smallville. Stamp likewise starred in the first two Superman movies playing the role of the Kryptonian villain, General Zod. Tom Welling, the star of Smallville once played his character's father, Jor-El, in a flashback episode of the series.
