History

Laira was a Green Lantern from the world of Jayd.

She was trained and recruited by her father, Kentor Omato, to take over his role as a soldier of the Guardians of the Universe. After his disappearance, she was appointed a ring holder. Discovering that her father had become a tyrant on X'ol, she sought out the former Green Lantern and faced him. In her battling and ultimate defeat of Omato, she refused to take his life. Thus, Omato chose to atone for his indiscretions by committing suicide.

She was asked by the Guardians to defend Oa from Hal Jordan's invasion. In the battle that ensued she was defeated and left for dead.

She was discovered by Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner to be held captive by the Manhunters, along with others including Kreon, and Tomar-Tu who had recently escaped to kill Jordan in revenge for his rampage.
