Ernest E. Earnest, or Ernie the Battlin' Boy, was the kid sidekick of General Glory, a patriotic hero (and comic book character) from the Second World War. One of General Glory's biggest fans, Guy Gardner, styled his own hair after the daring youngster's distinct cut. He's an obvious pastiche of the Marvel Comics character Bucky, the sidekick of Captain America. Ernie was created by J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen, and first appeared in Justice League America #48 (March, 1991).
