History

A member of the Sinestro Corps, Despotellis was created in a medical lab on the planet Khondra. Miltary scientists trying to create a biological weapon tinkered with a highly experimental virus; upon each generation, the virus became stronger and more powerful until it actually became self-aware. Furious at its forced creation, Despotellis unleashed itself on Khondra. It took only one day before all life on the planet had perished. Such a move attracted the attention of the Sinestro Corps.
Sinestro Corps WarEdit
Right before the outbreak of the war, Sinestro revealed that Green Lantern Kyle Rayner's mother had perished because of Despotellis, who came to Earth and infected her specifically. This revelation led Rayner to be overcome with fear, and he became infected by the Parallax entity. During the battle of New York, Despotellis infected GL Guy Gardner, but was stopped by fellow GL Soranik Natu and Leezle Pon. Shortly thereafter Despotellis was defeated and removed from Gardner's body. The virus has since been placed in Natu's medical ward and studied, in hopes of subduing the virus for good.
Powers and AbilitiesEdit
AblitiesEdit
- Can create non-sentient copies of itself, allowing it to spread. It can also destroy these copies, leaving no trace of itself in any of it's victims. Hence why Kyle Rayner didn't learn of the true origins of his mother's death until Despotellis appeared before him.
- Intimidation: Able to infect anyone at will and kill them within minutes, Despotellis is able to "instill great fear", leading to his recruitment into the Sinestro Corps.
