Synopsis:
Day 1:
Detectives for the Gotham City Police Department discover a corpse in an alley. Maggie Sawyer and Renee Montoya inspect the body and are shocked to discover that it is Lex Luthor!

Meanwhile, Power Girl battles with the Terra-Man over the skies of Kahndaq. Black Adam intervenes and prevents Power Girl from apprehending the villain. He tells her that she has no authority to conduct business in Kahndaq. Terra-Man returns with Black Adam to his palace.

Day 2:
At the Steelworks, Natasha Iron argues with her father over her grades. John Henry tells her that he has signed her up for Summer school. Natasha storms out of the building. Moments later, John receives a telephone call from S.T.A.R. Labs. They need him to come in and identify Lex Luthor’s body.

Day 3:
In Kahndaq, two representatives of Intergang named Noose and Rough House arrives at the presidential palace. They offer him the “most beautiful virgin in all of Egypt” in exchange for safe passage through Kahndaq for their criminal affairs. Black Adam responds by crushing Noose’s face in his hand.

Day 4:
In Metropolis, Booster Gold makes a showy display of beating up on a b-list super-villain named Shockwave. Skeets manages to bilk the event for all that it is worth, propelling Booster’s celebrity status to new levels. He later malfunctions however, as he incorrectly gives Booster some stock tips that fail to meet his expectations.

Day 5:
John Henry Irons examines the corpse of Lex Luthor. He discovers that a pair of colored contact lenses placed over the body’s eyes. This is not the real Lex Luthor. As if on cue, Luthor barges into the lab with an entourage of reporters falling in behind him. He presents the dead impostor and declares that the duplicate has been responsible for all of the negative deeds attributed to Luthor over the years.

Day 6:
At the Kahndaq embassy in New York City, Black Adam and Terra-Man addresses the press corps. Black Adam elects to put forth an extremely effective message regarding those who would seek to cross him. He grabs Terra-Man and tears him in half, spraying blood and gore all across the masses.

Notes

  • This issue went on sale May 24th, 2006.
  • Natasha Irons appears in her civilian identity only in this issue.
  • To all accounts, the double of Lex Luthor appears to be Alexander Luthor. Lex Luthor and the Joker murdered Alexander Luthor in Infinite Crisis #7. However, Alex's face was scarred by the Joker's acid spray, whereas the dead Luthor in this issue apears physically undamaged (aside from being dead).
  • The History of the DCU segment of this issue contains cameo flashbacks of the following characters:

Adam Strange, Anti-Monitor, Atom (Al Pratt), Atom (Ray Palmer), Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), Batman (Bruce Wayne), Blue Devil, Bouncing Boy, Brainiac 5, Chameleon Boy, Changeling, Chief, Colossal Boy, Cosmic Boy, Creeper, Cyborg (Victor Stone), Darkseid, Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson), Dove (Don Hall), Dream Girl, Duo-Damsel, Elasti-Girl, Element Lad, Flash (Barry Allen), Flash (Jay Garrick), Geo-Force, Green Arrow (Ollie Queen), Green Lantern (Alan Scott), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Hawk (Hank Hall), Hawkman (Carter Hall), Hourman (Rex Tyler), Invisible Kid (Lyle Norg), Jade, Kid Flash (Wally West), Krypto (Silver Age), Lightning Lad, Martian Manhunter, Metamorpho, Mon-El, Monitor, Negative Man, Nightwing (Dick Grayson), Orion, Phantom Girl, Raven, Robin (Dick Grayson), Robotman (Cliff Steele), Saturn Girl, Speedy (Roy Harper), Star Boy, Starfire, Sun Boy, Superboy (Silver Age), Timberwolf, Warlord, Wildfire, Wonder Girl (Donna Troy)

Trivia

  • Terra-Man refers to Power Girl as a "strange visitor". Strange Visitor was also the name of a former member of Superman's supporting cast who perished during the Our Worlds at War event. Like Power Girl, Strange Visitor was intended to be analagous to Supergirl. Whether this ironic reference was made intentionally or not is unknown.
